Cairo Nile cruise and Hurghada Tour Package

This 11-day Cairo Nile cruise and Hurghada tour package features some of the most popular attractions in Cairo and the Nile Valley including a Nile cruise and some time by the Red Sea coast at Hurghada.

You’ll start off in Cairo with touring the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, Memphis the Capital of ancient Egypt and Saqqara necropolis. Then explore the world famous Egyptian Museum including the treasures of Tutankhamun, Citadel of Cairo, then Coptic and Islamic Cairo.

Afterwards take the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (almost 12 hours) to embark your River Nile cruise for 3-night to Luxor. Your Cruise includes an expertly guided itinerary with 10 free excursions. You will explore the major sights, from Aswan high Dam, Philae temple on to the unusual double temple of Kom Ombo and Edfu to the magnificent city of Thebes and Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple.

  • Day 1: Arrive into Cairo / transfer to hotel

    Welcome to Cairo, Egypt. Upon your arrival at Cairo international airport, your representative will meet and assist you through formalities to obtaining your visa and collect luggage, then transfer you to your hotel, the rest of the day is free to relax.

    Day 2: Day trip to Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx, Memphis and Saqqara

    After breakfast, your Egyptologist tour guide will accompany you to visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world the pyramids of Giza. Enjoy fantastic introduction to each of the three pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus.

    Then explore these structures that have stood tall for over 4500 years. Whilst here, you will have the chance to visit inside one of the pyramids (extra ticket on spot). Then, move on to the pyramids panoramic view to shoot some great photos or opt for camel ride at the pyramids area (additional charge). Then move on to visit the Valley temple of king Chephren and the Sphinx.

    Move on to visit Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt, founded by King Menes almost 3100 BC. Today there are little left in the oldest city but still can see an open air museum of antiquities, the statue of Ramses II, the alabaster sphinx and more

    Continue to discover Saqqara, the Necropolis of ancient Memphis and home to the Step Pyramid of King Djoser. At Saqqara, the architect Imhotep designed a new form of burial structure in the form of a step pyramid in six stages. Later on transfer back to your hotel to relax or opt for an extra tour to attend the sound and light show at the pyramids of Giza.

    Day 3: Visiting the Egyptian Museum, Citadel, Coptic Cairo / Train to Aswan

    Check out after breakfast and then start to visit the Egyptian Museum of antiquities, home to the world’s largest collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts. Wander the masses of gleaming artefacts recovered from the tomb of the boy King Tutankhamun are an impressive sight – from jewellery to the famous golden death mask and his gilded sarcophagi, this pharaoh was certainly prepared for the afterlife. You will also have time to visit the royal mummy’s hall for a close encounter with some of the country’s most important queens and pharaohs (extra ticket on spot).

    Proceed to visit the Citadel of Saladin, a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, built by Saladin in 1176. You will explore Mohamed Ali Mosque, due to its prominent features. The mosque was built on the summit of the Citadel between 1830 and 1848.

    Continue to Coptic Cairo, a part of old Cairo which include the Babylon fortress, the Hanging church, Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church (Abu Serga) and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Then drive to Islamic Cairo and marvel at Cairo’s largest market of Khan el Khalili Bazaar. This evening we transfer to the train station for the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (approx. 12 hours). You’ll enjoy dinner on board, in your private twin-berth compartments before the steward sets your beds up for the night.

    Day 4: Arrive Aswan / Nile Cruise Tours

    Breakfast will be served at your train compartments. Upon arrival to Aswan train station, you will be picked up & transfer to your Nile Cruise, check in for 4 days 3 nights. Enjoy your Lunch on board and then start to visit Aswan high dam, a rockfill dam across the Nile River in Aswan completed in 1970. A marvel of modern engineering that boasts some truly epic dimensions—it is almost 3 3,830 meters long;  980 meters wide at its base; and 111 meters Height.

    Continue to the beautiful Philae Temple Island, it was painstakingly transferred to the island of Agilika after the construction of the Aswan High Dam to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. The three principal monuments on the island all date from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods are the Kiosk of Trajan, the Temple of Hathor and the Temple of Isis. After finished, back to the cruise ship with dinner on board and overnight in Aswan.

    Day 5: Optional: Abu Simbel temples / Kom Ombo Temple

    Spend your morning at leisure exploring Aswan, or join an optional tour to Abu Simbel from Aswan to visit the two rock-carved temples at Abu Simbel, one of the most recognizable ancient sites in Egypt.

    Lunch on board, and then start your leisurely cruise down the Nile to Kom-ombo to visit double Temple shared by two gods Sobek and Haroeris. The complex is unique because it has a mirror-image design, divided down the middle, with either side dedicated to a different set of gods. One half is known as the Temple of Sobek (the crocodile-headed god). The other half is dedicated to Haroeris (the falcon-headed god), and the whole temple is full of fascinating reliefs. Afterwards, return to the boat and sail to Edfu, dinner and overnight in Edfu.

    Day 6: Edfu, Cruise to Luxor / Karnak and Luxor Temples

    Breakfast on board your Nile cruise ship then visit the temple of Edfu, consider the preserved temple in Egypt. The temple was dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god and built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Hellenistic period in Egypt.

    Return to the boat and sail to Luxor passing through the Esna Locks. It is not uncommon to have to queue to proceed through the locks; however this is a great opportunity to check out the process from cruise deck, and listen to the shouts of the many captains as they navigate their way through the various small boats of merchants selling their wares to the customers on board.

    Late afternoon, you will explore the vast open-air Karnak temple complex. It was constructed from the beginning of the Middle Kingdom to the Greco-Roman Kingdom, a period of some 2000 years. See the impressive avenue of Sphinxes, pylons, and marveling at the towering columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall.

    Then move to Luxor Temple, once was joined to the Karnak Temple by a three kilometer long Avenue of Sphinx, a portion of which marks the entrance. Luxor temple entrance was decorated by two enormous statues of Ramses II, along with a pink granite obelisk (its mate stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France). After finished, transfer to your Nile Cruise, Dinner & overnight in Luxor

    Day 7: Luxor west bank tour / Transfer to Hurghada

    Disembarkation after breakfast, Enjoy a wonderful tour to visit West Bank of the Nile in Luxor. Your first stop will be at the two Colossal statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, better known as the Colossi of Memnon.

    Then head out to visit one of the most famous archeological sites in the world the Valley of the Kings, the largest burial ground in ancient Egypt. Here are over 164 tombs of pharaohs, Nobles and Queens are richly decorated with reliefs and paintings. Your Egyptologist tour guide will explain the history and legends of these remarkable people, their funerary rites, and the significance of the many paintings and hieroglyphics, still well-preserved in the deepest tombs, explore three of the best-preserved tombs. Whilst here, you will have the chance to visit inside the tomb of Tutankhamun (Extra ticket on spot).

    Continue to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut – a stunning colonnaded building set against high cliffs that create a spectacular natural amphitheater. The legendary female pharaoh had this mortuary temple built to signify her importance and honor her ancestors.

    Enjoy Lunch at good quality local restaurant and then you will be transferred to Hurghada (almost 4 hours drive), where we check into your resort. Your stay here is on a ‘soft all inclusive’ basis, with all meals, soft drinks and snacks included but not alcoholic beverages.

    Optional: A spectacular hot air balloon over the west bank of the Nile (expect an early start to catch sunrise as the balloon rises).

    Day 8: Red Sea at Hurghada, free day

    Day 9: Red Sea at Hurghada, free day

    After breakfast, there are no activities planned for today (check out at 12:00PM), Then you will be transferred to Hurghada bus station to take the first class coach to Cairo (Almost 6 hours drive) upon arrival in Cairo you will be met and assisted, then transferred to your hotel for free time at leisure and overnight stay in Cairo
