Can my tourist visa be extended to more than one month?
You can do it by applying to Mogamma, in Tahrir Square, Cairo or to the equivalent offices in Alexandria, Luxor or Sharm El-Sheikh. The timings are 8:00 to 15:30. Along with your expired passport, take a photocopy and a passport photo with you.
What happens if you overstay your Egyptian Visa?
If you have stayed a few days, you may not be asked for fine but be prepared. But if it is few months, a large amount of fine will be collected before you board the plane. Sometimes, renewal is not allowed, in that case also, you may have to leave the country with fine.
Are children required to apply for Egypt Visa?
Children can apply for visa even if they are included on their parent’s passport to avoid doubts. And must in case of, they are of 16 years or older.
Do I need a Visa if arriving by cruise ship for a short visit?
Ask the cruise ship operators if they have provisions, but basically shore excursions for a day or two won’t need an additional visa. However, land excursions do need visa.
Can I revisit Egypt after Jordan visit?
Once you leave Egypt, your passport will be stamped. You may need multiple visas for Egypt in case you plan to explore Egypt further.
Why do we need passport numbers?
All passports are checked during standard hotel check in procedure throughout Egypt. This info is forwarded to police on advance. You can skip the process but have a copy of your passport along with you for hotel check-ins, so they don’t keep them overnight to copy but on the cruises, passports are kept in the pursers office until they departure.
Do we need travel insurances?
Usually no. But if you have one, it helps. Also if you are having any medications, keep prescriptions during security checking. And avoid tap water and if you are not accustomed to rich foods, avoid street foods.
Do we have to pay for Mummies room?
Normally yes. Mummies room are extra and camera are not allowed in museums. Outdoors cameras are allowed, so fill your memory cards with Egypt’s glory and colours.
Do we need to pay camera fees?
No. camera and videos are allowed for free. However check with your guide which sites and where cameras are allowed and where not.
What are Ramadan dates for 2018?
Ramadan starts on 15th May 2018 and ends in 14th June 2018 followed by 3 days of celebration that ends in 17th June 2018.
Can I wear a swimsuit in beaches?
In certain areas, survey the area first. Not everywhere swimsuits are allowed. The resorts are designed for that. Public beaches may not be comfortable either. But you can wear shorts etc. But wear sunblock wherever you go. Swimsuits and exposing attire maybe not allowed but the sun is all around and the climate is too hot.
What else do we have to follow?
Our operator and guides will update you of any restrictions there is. Like the dress code is modest all around; comfortable and covered shoes are advised. Hair tied back and covered most times due to sun. Ladies are expected to sit next to ladies and males are not supposed to talk to Egyptian ladies directly. Hand holding in public is allowed and during sightseeing and activities, don’t touch everything without permission. What voltage does Egypt have, and what kind of plugs?
Egypt has a voltage supply of 220V and the plugs are the 2 round pin type that is common throughout Europe can be found in shops selling luggage or other travel goods.
Do we have to pay extra while travelling in groups?
Just the opposite. Travelling alone you will pay for everything alone. In groups it will be less, but we have various tailor-made packages which can be planned when you book with us.
Can we use cheaper accommodations?
Yes you can. But they are not often clean or comfortable. Tourists are advised to use 5 star or higher if they want to explore Egypt without stress and have fun.
Are there any legal restrictions or limits on how much money I can take into Egypt?
There are no restrictions or limits on taking in money. However, carry some Egyptian cash with you for tipping or buying snacks, bottled water toilet paper etc. Even cards are acceptable in places, but you should use Egypt currency locally which will be cheaper.
Do we need to learn Arabic or English for Egypt visit?
A few words of Arabic will make you feel connected but it’s not compulsory. We have guides with multiple language skills not to mention licensed and experienced who will not only guide you through Egypt sites and streets but will also be eyes and mouth whenever you required. But once in hotel, they will return to their homes.
Can I bring a personal supply of cigarettes and alcohol with me when I am visiting Egypt?
Yes, you are allowed 1 liter of alcohol and 200 cigarettes to bring with you. However, it is advised to buy your supply of cigarettes and alcohol in Egypt after arrival. There are duty free shops in the airports in Cairo, Luxor, Hurghada, El Gouna and Sharm El Sheikh. And tourists are allowed to purchase up to 3 liters of alcohol and up to 200 cigarettes on arrival.
Can we buy them elsewhere in Egypt?
Tourists have 48 hours after arrival to buy these products from any duty free shop in Egypt. There are also several other locations in Cairo and in hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, El Gouna and Hurghada where you can buy. But they may cost more.
Can we arrange our own transportation?
You can. But it will be time taking, uncomfortable and often not advisable. However, your guide will help you with your transport and other queries.
