Early in the morning, your Egyptologist tour guide will pick you up by an air conditioned vehicle to visit Abu Simbel temples (almost 3 hours’ drive). Upon your arrival, your tour guide will introduce you to the history of the temples.
The two Temples of Abu Simbel are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt art. The great Temple of Ramses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Amun-Re, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to the deified Ramesses II himself. The temple is also called The Sun Temple of Ramses II. While the Small Temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Ramesses II’s chief consort, Nefertari is also called Temple of Hathor who was the wife of the Sun God. Later on, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Aswan and free time to relax
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast at your hotel, you will start to visit the Unfinished Obelisk, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut yet never completed due to a flaw discovered in the stone. If finished it would have been the largest and heaviest obelisk ever attempted, 42 metres long and weighing more than 1200 Tons. The unfinished obelisk offers unusual insights into ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques.
Proceed to visit the Aswan high Dam, the world’s largest embankment dam built across the Nile River between 1960 and 1970, to control the Nile flood, provide increased water storage for irrigation and generate hydroelectricity.
Enjoy a Motorboat short ride to the beautiful Philae Temple complex, originally situated on the island of Philae. It was dismantled and moved to nearby Agilkia Island as part of the UNESCO Nubia Campaign project, to save it from the rising waters before the 1970 completion of the Aswan High Dam. The three principal monuments on the island all date from the Pharaonic, Ptolemaic and Roman periods— Temple of Nectanebo II, the Temple of Isis, the Temple of Hathor and the Kiosk of Trajan. Back to your hotel and check out.
Proceed to enjoy a fantastic sailing the Nile by Nile Felucca, as you sail around Elephantine Island and visit the famous Botanical Garden on Kitchener’s Island which is rich of its plants that were imported from all over the world.
Later on you will be transferred to Aswan Airport for final departure.
